a friend of mine wants to quit smoking pot, but isnt sure if they could. they asked me to help them. they said smoking makes them feel accepted, they feel its a social thing, its a temporarty problem relief, and pretty much the only friends they hang out with do it. what can i do to help them stop?

Marijuana is a gateway drug, meaning it is the beginning of a progressive journey in to the drug culture. Leading to cocaine, heroin and other drugs of abuse. Sure it is a social thing to begin with until it crosses over. You have not given enough information really to be able to help you or them. First off, do you get high? Have you ever attended a NA/AA self-help meeting? Do you know where to find a meeting? If you can answer these questions for yourself. Then invite your friend to a meeting and a adequate social support group of people who know how to not use or smoke marijuana.
