Hi all, gosh its been ages since I have visited this site.
Well I thought I would pop in to say HELLO! My journey to recovery (and staying in recovery) has been possible! I never thought I would make it this far, but as the days progress I have more faith that I will continue….
for those of you that dont know me, well this has been a 5-7 year battle. Many attempts to stay clean failed one after the other. Little did i know that I needed support. Pig headed me just liked to battle things on my own. But as step one of the AA steps says .. I had to admit that I was powerless to alcohol and my life had become unmanageable. After many failed attempts at staying sober on my own. I seeked outside help via a psychiatrist. they put me on seroquel straight after medical detox. that helped keep my moods in check and sleep way easy.
I have been to addiction services, doctors, therapists etc. But the main thing that helped me was calling on my higher power (God) during the times when I was tempted or the thoughts became unmanagable.
Any way, i could ramble on here for eternity. I am so gratefull for the friends that have helped me. My family for there support. AA for their program and literature. and this site for all the wonderful people and stories.
well I am going to read my old posts now to get a reminder of how far I have come! Take care all, and know that sobriety is possible! (honestly if you asked anyone that really knew me, they did not believe that I would get this far)
LIfe is great!!!

Great to hear from you and congrats on your 126 days. I hadn’t yet found this forum when you were posting before (thanks go to Groucho for that), so don’t remember you. Sounds like we can chalk up another success story (One Day at a Time, of course) for the wonderful program that is AA…. it’s what finally helped me stay sober, too.
