Since deciding to go sober “again” a week ago. I’ve lost 6 pounds and saved allot of money. Yes the withdrawels do suck but pretty soon I’ll be able to wear those size 1 jeans that are collecting dust in my closet and pay off some debt with all the money I’m putting aside that I would normally have speant on booze. So everytime I crave booze I work on a project I put off before due to being drunk, or I hop on my bike and ride out for an hour, read my books on this addiction, and put the money away that I would have speant if I went and bought booze. This may sound silly but this is how I’m rewarding myself, by losing some extra pounds, finishing projects, exercizing, and soon paying off some debt. ;o)

Mama hang in there it gets better, keep an open mind, if 12 Step National Meetings is not enough support reach out for some local face to face support, please keep in mind that you are not alone in this, there are millions of us spread over this world and unless you live in the middle of no where I can assure you there are recovered/recovering alcoholics near you that would be more then happy to help you.

Nice to meet you. I didn’t start recovery for economic reasons, or to be physically more attractive….BUT I guess I will have to accept these “side effects” of sobriety!!!!LOL Oh yea… I feel good about myself too….those darn side effects…Congrats on your sober time….

Hey, those are just a few of the benefits of sobriety! If I had to list them all I’d be at it for days. Happy to hear you’re doing so well. 6 days is HUGE!

Since quitting drinking 7 months ago, I’ve lost a total of 35 lbs. I’m back in my size 3’s which was the norm for me before I really got out of hand. I’m positive the booze and benzo’s added those pounds on fast!
I do work out twice a week and do yoga as well.
I do have to realize I’ll never be 21 again, but 40 doesn’t have to be 60 which it would have been if I had kept going.

You guys are awsome!! I didn’t do this just to lose a couple pounds or save cash trust me I did this because it’s just a endless cycle to no where and now that I’m a 32 single Mother I don’t see this as any use in my life. My father was a very abusive alcholic drug user and I refuse to live that pattern and bestow that pain on my 3 year old that is my absolute world. Of course I’ve never been abusive or neglectful towards her but I feel like I can be so much more and that is what triggered me to get sober then when I did allot of research so many other positive things some out of being sober as well. Thank you guys for you support!!

Hell yeah! I’m hoping to lose about 30 myself. This time instead of starving myself so I can drink all my calories I’m actually EATING and not DRINKING. Novel diet huh? Can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner haha.

Okay you are all making me envious, even though I look about 15-20 pounds lighter now then when I was drinking I have not lost an ounce!!!! But I feel great and the swelling in my liver is gone!

Congrats to all on your sobriety and weight lose!

I can say I’ve lost about 10 pounds now. I can’t wait to put on my skinny jeans and shake my boodie in the mirror tee hee. I know I know I sound like a tard.

No you don’t sound like a tard lol. The weight drops off. I’m so happy for you on your sober time, like the others said, it’s HUGE. I am two days behind you and I can’t wait to be as positive and pro-active as you. Good luck and keep us updated.
